Based upon the current U.S. National Average Diesel Fuel Index, ABF's fuel surcharge is now applicable. The current ABF LTL fuel surcharge is 14.1%.
|
The level of the fuel surcharge is adjusted on Wednesday based upon the U.S. National Average Diesel Fuel Index of the prior Monday. This index, published by the Energy Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy, is available by telephone at 202-586-6966 and on their Internet site.
The fuel surcharge will be shown as a separate entry on our freight bill and will be applied to all line-haul charges, with applicable discounts, but not to special service charges. The fuel surcharge calculation is supported in ABF's Q-Rate personal computer rating application.
For further explanation, see the ABF Rules and Special Service Charges Guide Item 161. |
*When diesel fuel prices equal or exceed $5.00 per gallon, the LTL fuel surcharge continues to increase 0.1% with every one-cent increment. When diesel fuel prices equal or exceed $5.00 per gallon, the TL fuel surcharge continues to increase 0.2% with every one-cent increment. For example, when the index is at least $5.00 but less than $5.01, the TL surcharge will be 81.8% and when the index is at least $5.01 but less than $5.02, the TL surcharge will be 82.0%.
